Leslie Sheppard
Special Education
Hi! This will be my eighteenth year teaching within Buford City Schools and my third at BES. Overall, I have been teaching 25 years covering grades Pre-K – fifth with my first year teaching high school. We moved from Michigan to Gwinnett County 25 years ago. I have experience in both special and general education environments. Early intervention is key and I strongly believe in building positive relationships with all students. My goal is to create a loving, positive, and structured environment where students can shine in their own unique ways. When they leave me each day, I want them to know/experience that they are valued and loved. I am married to Lyle Sheppard, going on 26 years this summer. I have two children that started at the BCSS Daycare. My son Max is a recent graduate of the BHS class of 2023 and my daughter Mara is a current 9th grader at BHS. They have known nothing other than the Buford City Schools System and the amazing community that brings. We enjoy sports as a family and you can always find me following The Michigan State Spartans along with club soccer. I am looking forward to my new adventure teaching Kindergarten at BES. Welcome to Buford! EDUCATION

Speech Therapist I am so happy to be celebrating my 20th year working with children with disabilities and my 3rd year with Buford City Schools. My Bachelor’s studies focused on Psychology and Music at the University of West Florida, and my Master’s Degree was in Communication Science and Disorders from Florida State University. I am a Georgia state-certified Speech-Language Pathologist, as well as certified by the American Speech-Language Hearing Association (ASHA). My experience began with early intervention and moved into Autism clinical research diagnostics and consulting at FSU. I also previously worked as an SLP in private and hospital settings. I grew up in Port St. Joe, FL. My sweet daughter, Eva, and I moved to Georgia in 2017, and she will be attending the Senior Academy this year. We have a King Charles Spaniel named Bear, and we love swimming, dancing, karate, movies, and anything related to music! My work is my passion, and I’m elated to be able to serve our precious kiddos at BES!
